hey so it’s march now aka the beginning of endometriosis awareness month and i feel obligated to remind you that debilitatingly painful periods are not normal. if you or someone you know is ending up sick or bedridden every month, you are not crazy and deserve medical attention from someone who will take you seriously

hey it’s march again let’s get this post circulating again

Draining and paving wetlands is just about one of the worst ideas ever. When water can disperse along a winding waterway into soft soil it slows it’s movement way down. Slow water deposits sediment instead of eroding it. Plants can grow in it that clean the water and trap more sediment. That increased soil absorbs and slows extra water when there’s a larger rain than usual and buffers the effects of even torrential storms.

Fast, straight waterways remove soil, and don’t give water a chance to soak in. Often insult is added to injury by paving and armoring the banks (ostensibly to reduce erosion) removing any possibility of absorbing and slowing extra water. Any increase in precipitation upstream means a higher water level. A storm means catastrophic flooding.

Draining wetlands doesn’t make more “usable” land, it sets the stage for tragedies.

“In the history of the world, in all the people in it now, just one of them is you. You will share pieces of yourself with many people, enough strings to tie the world together that you cannot be alone, but you are still the only person in the whole world who is you. The odds of that are so significant, so important, they read like a love letter from the Creator to you. And that’s your power, your lifeline, your reason. I know it hurts—but it is worth living through so that you can change this place with the fingerprint of your life.”

I started breaking the spn news to my mom but she said one of the funniest things possible to try and comfort me

as someone who has never seen an episode of spn in my life but has lived here on tumblr for way too long, “it’s just a show honey and it’s probably written by men” is one of the funniest things I’ve ever witnessed
